- We are hosting 13 elementary, middle, and high schools at our biggest event yet. Georgetown basketball standout and top NBA prospect Greg Monroe will highlight our guest list to honor our youth.

- Athletes 2 Coaches Training Course: Georgetown University
- In the first intensive training course of The Grassroot Project, 40 athletes at Georgetown were certified as Grassroot Hoyas Coaches.
January 30th
- First Full Program Launched at Francis Stevens Middle School

- City Year City Heroes Special Program
- Grassroot Hoyas worked with City Heroes high school students to discuss HIV/AIDS and t
he social issues surrounding the disease in our communities.
- We are hoping to incorporate some of the high school students into our program model
(e.g. college and high school athletes educating kids together) in future programs!
February 9th
- Program Launched at Browne Gibbs Young Middle School
February 11th
- Program Launched at Jelleff Boys and Girls Club
March 27th
- National Boys and Girls Club Week Special Program
- The Grassroot Project provided a special session for National Boys and Girls Club week at Jelleff Boys & Girls Club.
- 100 kids and program coordinators attended, and all participated in our games “Choices,” “Find the Ball,” and “Team Handball.”
April 4th and 5th
- Grassroot Hoyas FEST
- Students and athletes at Georgetown put on the first ever Grassroot Hoyas FEST, an event that
aimed to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS in DC, and raise additional funds to support the Grassroot Hoyas program.
- Hundreds of students participated in three events; a 3v3 soccer tournament, 3v3 basketball tournament, and a 5K run.
April 22th
- DC Scores/Caesar Chavez Middle School Special Program
- Grassroot Hoyas from the Georgetown varsity soccer team rolled out a special soccer training and Grassroot Hoyas program with middle school girls and boys at Caesar Chavez.
April 24th

Graduation for Grassroot Hoyas
- Students from Francis Stevens, Browne Gibbs Young, and Jelleff all came together on Georgetown’s campus to officially become recognized as Grassroot Hoyas.
- They received a campus tour by our athletes, and they were issued t-shirts and certificates recognizing their hard work.
During the graduation ceremony, the kids taught some of the activities from the curriculum to their parents
…now that they know the information, this was their first opportunity to take action!
