The 1st Annual Grassroot Hoyas Fest

On the weekend of April 4 - 5, 2009 the Grassroot Hoyas hosted their First Annual Grassroot Hoyas Fest in the Georgetown community. The event consisted of “Lose the Shoes” 3v3 soccer tournament, “Nothing But Net” 3v3 basketball tournament, and a 5K race. The Grassroot Hoyas Fest was a successful venue both in terms of educating the public and fundraising for the Grassroot Project. The community support was overwhelming: hundreds of Georgetown University students, faculty, and community members participated in the three events and collaborated in the fight against the HIV/AIDS epidemic happening in their own backyard.

The 2nd Annual Grassroot Hoyas Fest

On the weekend of October 10 - 11, 2009 the Grassroot Hoyas will host their Second Annual Grassroot Hoyas Fest. We will hold 3v3 soccer and basketball tournaments and a 5K race. October 10th will consist of the 3v3 soccer and basketball tournaments with 3-4 players per team. Each tournament will give participating teams the chance to play at least 2-3 games in a round-robin style tournament. The 5K race, taking place on October 11, will run on the beautiful Capital Crescent Trail.

The community support was overwhelming!

Thanks to the overwhelming support of the community, the Grassroot Hoyas have been able to create a second Fest in the hopes of continuing to build off the success of the first Fest and gather even more support for their cause this fall.
