Ruvimbo Mushavi
Program Manager, Athletes
Ruvimbo Mushavi was born and raised in Harare, Zimbabwe. She recently graduated from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts where she pursued a major in International Relations and a minor in French. Throughout her undergraduate career, she was a student-athlete who played defense on the Field Hockey team, and served as a team co-captain in both her junior and senior year. She is passionate about development having seen, firsthand, some of the socio-economic issues burdening Africa.
After her sophomore year of college, Ruvimbo interned at Southern Africa HIV and AIDS Information Dissemination Service (SAfAIDS), a non-profit organization whose aim is to educate communities, especially the youth, about their sexual and reproductive health rights. The following summer, she worked at UNICEF as a communications intern. She was able to realize the importance of collaboration between non-profit organizations and NGOs to reach target populations and provide them with necessary information and resources concerning their health. Ruvimbo can be found reading, listening to music, participating in a wide array of fitness activities, and spending quality time with friends and family.
